Cementing the brand foundation
O’Brien Contractors (O’Brien) is a Midlands-based, main contractor with a reputation for delivering project excellence across civil engineering, construction and sports disciplines.
It’s family-owned, forward-thinking and is working at the forefront of technological innovation. Our mission? To make this contractor’s brand scale up and stand out.
From early discovery sessions, we established a set of clear goals: to refine the business’ messaging and communicate this effectively through careful elevation of the brand. This included streamlining the visual consistency of all internal and external brand assets, providing a set of templates to support business development activity and the creation of a master tender document – all of which were executed by our team in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro.
Starting from scratch, we hit the ground running with an executive team brand messaging workshop to understand the business’ current position, and where it wanted to go. Branding adjustments require a detailed eye, so we carefully crafted a custom messaging house, comprising the company’s mission, vision, values and brand descriptors across its service lines and sectors. This messaging house was the linchpin for every aspect of brand development that followed.
From blueprint to brand building
Crystal clear picture of the O’Brien brand nailed, we got to work reinforcing consistency across the business’ marketing and BD assets. Our design team kickstarted this process with the development of bespoke iconography and brand identifiers. Tip top and tailor-made, these design elements strengthened the company’s unique identity across several platforms and touchpoints – including social profiles and tender documents.
Informed by brand intelligence from the messaging house, we also created and implemented a new content strategy to feed the reshaped branding across the entire business.
In brand development, suites of expertly crafted collateral are the building blocks of a business’ new look and feel. This project was no different and the new brand style even informed O’Brien’s tendering and bid application process. This, in tandem with a new 36-page capability statement we developed to support O’Brien’s business development work will enhance its professional presence and open up opportunities for securing new business.
Did we also mention we never do anything by halves? In addition to external communications, we also redesigned internal communications activities with a 20-page physical and digital newsletter template.
Alongside our design work, we support O’Brien with a successful media relations and content campaign to cement its employees’ industry expertise among important target audiences. This work includes the development of social media themes and content creation with O’Brien and securing an expert profiling opportunity each month.
