Our account executive, Anita, reflects on her one-year mark at Pearl Comms

We recently caught up with our Account Executive, Anita, to reflect on her year here at Pearl Comms. Here’s what she had to say…

How does it feel to have reached the one-year milestone at Pearl Comms?

Anita: It went by so fast that it very nearly fell under my radar, which definitely speaks to what a varied and fast-paced experience it’s been.

As my first comms role, it’s amazing to see how much I’ve been able to get involved with during the course of a year. Since starting, I’ve learned so much about PR and comms and refined my skills with each new task and project I’ve taken on.

Has it been what you expected?

Anita: I knew that I’d love PR, but that was from my own research into it since I’d never worked in the industry before. Actually being part of an agency, however, and getting involved with such diverse client work every day, has been so valuable.

What have been your highlights so far?

Anita: One of my highlights is definitely last year’s Autumn Budget – we were all in the office watching the Chancellor’s speech live, drafting and sending out expert client comments and phoning up journalists. Speed was crucial to secure coverage, as competition for expert commentary on the topic is fierce – the pressure was on to pitch perfectly. I’m proud to say I helped to secure some great coverage for clients, including City AM and the Daily Mail.

Another highlight is a piece of coverage I secured for our sustainable flooring client, Coppice & Crown, in Homes & Gardens Magazine. It’s always great to achieve a top-tier piece of coverage for a client, and this was one of the earlier ones I’d worked on and remember being super proud of.

Can you sum up your year in three words?

Anita: Insightful, eventful and fun!

What are you looking forward to in your year ahead?

Anita: Currently, I’m getting involved with our own social media activity and have started to explore video-editing on platforms like Adobe Express, recently taking responsibility for creating a ‘Behind the scenes’ reel for our Instagram and LinkedIn. I love finding new ways to get into a creative flow and have really enjoyed it so far. Definitely looking forward to creating more fun things and building my skills around this!

Other than that, I’m excited to take on any new projects and tasks that come my way, whether it be in media pitching, owned content or something else entirely – it’s never a dull day at Pearl!
